How Do You Predict the Future?
A business poem by Riana Lynn
How do you predict the future?
You meditate.
You breathe into the silence.
You remember the stories your grandma told you—
In the kitchen, on the porch, before the world turned digital.
How did things work back then?
What did she marvel at today that felt impossible then?
You sit with that.
Because wisdom skips generations but never disappears.
You give it 10 years.
You remember A Goofy Movie—
Or whatever your heart’s futurism cartoon was set on.
A dream in motion, a daydream with a beat.
Most of the scense you fell in love with? It’s prophecy.
Because we design from dreams, and love.
From artists, from visionaries,
From those who dared to sketch tomorrow in film, neon ink or pixel dust.
We are building the future, even while it is building us.
We live inside someone else's idea right now.
So whose idea will people live inside of next?
Yours? Mine?
Ask yourself:
What are the needs of the future?
Because you build for that.
Not for today’s convenience but for tomorrow’s survival.
5 years out. 10 years deep.
How do you predict the future?
You look for patterns.
Where are the influencers showing up?
Not just TikTok dances—
But paradigm shifts.
Who are they?
Cause across my screen
they are young African boys and Asian queer baddies?
That’s predicting the future.
That’s listening with your soul’s antenna.
And maybe you write it like a poem.
Because prediction is poetry.
And business is prophecy.
How do you predict the future?
You feel it.
You design it.
You remember.
You dare.
